I've had it for a year and a half and suddenly it just stopped charging
at all. I have to have it constantly plugged in and if the cord gets
pulled out for a second it will shut down. Now it also just turns off
sometimes and i know i haven't either pulled the cord out or
accidentally shut it down. Does anyone know how to fix this?Dell laptop not charging, even though computer says its "plugged in". ? I
have a dell laptop, inspiron 1545, when i plug in the charging cord, it
will say "plugged in, not charging". Then i will unplug/re-plug the
charger several times, maybe even wait a minute or so and it will
finally say "plugged in, charging" i like to know whats going on.
I have the hp g60 laptop with windows 7 and i am having power problems?
I'll have it plugged in on somewhere like a desk and it will do things
like randomly disconnect itself so it looks like it's plugged in but
it's running on battery. Often when i do plug it it the little Dell Inspiron 1501 AC Adapter
symbol will say plugged in, not charging. I've taken it back to the
store to have my connector fixed as it was broken, but it hasn't solved
the problem.I have a dell laptop and it says plug in, not charging. How do i get it
to charge? My laptop is already plugged in and it says " plugged in, not
charging". How do i get it so it says " plugged in , charging".
Answer:-
Verify the outlet that you are plugging into has current
by plugging a fan, lamp, etc. There are some outlets in my guest house
that have the bottom outlets working off a light switch.I was using my lap top, and it was running out of battrie so i charged
it then later, the battery was low again, so i went back to my office to
charge it then i notice it's not charging, i try everything, i try
different outputs, the charger Dell Inspiron 1564 AC Adapter is not ripped or damaged, some how it
just stopped charging, now my lap top ran out of battery, is my laptop
broken, what should i do?
My question is, when using a laptop while it's charging, does the laptop
run off the battery, which is constantly being recharged, or does the
laptop run off the power from the power (ac?) Adapter and not use the
battery until it is unplugged, does it then use power from the battery. ?Toshiba laptop battery not charging, but says its is and battery light
is on? I have a toshiba satellite laptop a100 series. When plugged in
with adaptor, laptop works fine. The battery light is on at the front
(which i think means its charging it)
In the icons in the corner,
when i hover over the battery indicator it says 1% available (plugged
in, charging) but it never gets over 1%, and when i pull the charger out
it instantly fails, so basically it's not charging at all, but its
telling me it should be. Iv tried reinstalling the driver for the
charger/Dell Inspiron 1545 AC Adapter, no change.got a bios thing off toshiba website, no
change. Any suggestions on what's wrong and how to fix it?
Just
been curious, i was thinking that if the first one is the case, that it
would really wear out the battery and kill its life-span. I was
thinking that i would just use the laptop with the battery disconnected
and just powered through the adapter - which would be kind of risky i
guess, if the plug were to disconnect. Anybody have knowledge on this
subject?Toshiba battery charger not charging laptop? Ok this start started like 3
days ago but whenever i plug in the battery charger it doesn't charge
at all. It is annoying me and i want to know if i need to go buy a new Dell Studio 1737 AC Adapter. Whenever i plug in my sisters charger it works fine. So whats the
problem?

Dell Inspiron 1525 battery
My dell inspiron 1545 laptop when the charger is plugged it says
"plugged in, not charging" what does it mean? My laptop is a little beat
up it fell on the floor a while ago and like the charger port is kinda
bent but its been working awhile like i move the charger until it says

Battery not
charging on my dell inspiron 8100. I received this laptop without a
charger. I purchased one on ebay and after a 1 1/2 week wait it is here.
When i plug it in, the battery light will flash green twice then stay
green for 6 seconds. Then flashes orange, then green. Orange, then
green.continuously. Is it the charger? The battery? Is something not
plugged in? It will power up to xp and work fine until i accidentally
knock the power code out. I took the Dell Inspiron 1525 battery out and put it back in.
Still wont work. Dell inspiron 1526 battery not charging? How to get it fix?
Answer:- does your computer work with the battery removed, and the power lead plugged in?, If it does then your battery needs replacing. They don't last forever. Dell inspiron 1545 laptop charger? My charger, worked fine yesterday until later in the night. It was charging and it go pulled out a little, and then it stopped working. I plug it in and out, nothing happened. Toke the cord out and that nothing happened. Is it that it burned out? I got it in, april? Of this year. What should i do?I got my Dell Inspiron 1300 AC Adapter in february, and i haven't had any problems with it. The other night, i shut down my laptop, and put it under my bed, per usual. The next day, i go to turn it on, and it will not turn on. I like, nothing happens when press the button. The light in the front wont go on when its plugged in either. Any ideas?I have a dell inspiron 1545, but recently, my ac adapter stopped working. My family had a charger lying around. It was a charger for a dell inspiron 1501. It works on my laptop, but would it end up frying my laptop?

Is it possible to get a integrated webcam installed into my dell
inspiron 1545 laptop? I have a dell laptop and i didn't get a webcam
installed when i was "building" my laptop online. I was wondering if i
could send it in or take it to a shop to get an integrated webcam
installed. I recently bought Dell Inspiron 6400 AC Adapter (windows 7) and the
webcam has never worked. I downloaded a new driver from the dell website
which didn't work, i downloaded the dell webcam center. When i open the
webcam center it tells me "no supported webcam driver detected. Please
install the webcam driver using the dell resource cd and launch webcam
center again. " Which i did but there is no webcam driver on the cd! I
really do not know what to do now.
How can i access the built-in webcam on my dell inspiron 1545? I just
purchased it today and was hoping to use the webcam but unfortunately i
have no idea how to get to it. I looked in the bottom right-hand corner,
but to my disappointment, there was no icon. Any suggestions on how to
get to the webcam? It uses windows 7, if thats any help. Dell inspiron 1501 laptop plugged in but not charging? My Dell PA-21 AC Adapter is
about a year and a half old and the charger isn't the original but ive
had this charger for at least 6 months and its charged it no problem,
but now all of a sudden when i plugged it in it tells me that the ac
power adapter can not be determined.
My dell insipron 1525 laptop is not charging. I plug it in and it works
but it will not charge. I use the charger it came with and wen i turn it
on a message comes up saying i need a charger that is model number
65w-ac or greater for best performance. I checked the model number and i
have the exact same charger. How do i fix this?My dell inspiron 1545 laptop power light won't turn on however the Dell PA-13 AC Adapter is on and working fine. ? My laptop purchased a little more than a
month ago was working great until today. The power indicator has
stopped working and can't help but think something must be wrong because
it just shut off and never came back on. Ive tried restarting it,
taking the battery out and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any
solutions?
Dell Inspiron 6400 battery
Dell's AC adapter plugs are crap. If you need to buy one, buy the
RocketFish one that has all the different adapters to work on different
laptops. My husband went through the dell ones like water until a
coworker told him to buy the RocketFish. It was $100 as opposed to $70
for the Dell one, but it also didn't die in four months.
I can't help with the Dell Inspiron 6400 battery , though, although I will say that the battery on my Asus laptop is 18 months old and going strong, so I'd be pretty upset if it died after only 6 months. Did you buy it at Best Buy or something where you might have paid for an extended warranty? I wouldn't know where to go hunting for the info for a friend. But her 13 month old 17" Dell Laptop is having battery issues - she never thought it would have been covered by her warranty, so she didn't call.
She is just ready to have to buy a new one - and doens't want to spend $160.
THought i'd ask if someone could either point me to some reading for her - or at least say if they are having similar issues. If it was a Mac, she'd be getting a new one.Dell was probably the company that was hit worst by last years battery problems (apart from Sony who was the cause of all the mess). You should most definitely check if that battery is covered by any battery replacement program. And a Dell Latitude D830 Battery shouldn't wear out after 13 months.
On the other hand, check if Dell has any recommendations how to improve the life of your battery, like Apple has. I find it hard to believe that she could hit the cycle life on it already too. I'll hunt around for some calibration type stuff for her. But she's getting less than an hour of battery life on it, and she works full time so only uses it in the evenings.
I have a 15'' Dell Inspiron purchased in June 06 and I already had one battery replaced because it was wearing out and the warning light was on. This happened in like February.
Tell her to go on their support chat. I went on there and they sent me a new battery no problem.I've got an original macbook 1.83 that I forgot I had in my electronic parts container. It works completely but it has these little horizontal lines that are moving/flickering but that go away depending on the background color.
The lines don't show up in screen shot images, and I don't have the right Dell Inspiron 1501 battery/dongle to test it with an external monitor.
The following three images are taken with my phone to show the issue.
Anyone with knowledge on what could be causing this particular screen issue please chime in.For example, if I was opening a 250MB PDF? or a 50MB JPEG image in adobe reader or photoshop would they
open instantly or lightning quick? compared to what it would take for my hard drive? like what's the difference,
2 seconds for HD, 1 second for SSD? I'm not sure. Are there any good benchmarks? I'll google for that soon.
I live in Australia, so I'll be purchasing them from NewEgg and having them shipped (obviously),
I'd like to get one 160GB for my OSX (SL, which will be installed brand new), and a 160GB or 80GB for my Windows 7 partition...
I'd also like to get one for my dad, I think it will benefit him a lot, he takes a lot of high res photos,
imports those photos over, batch processes them, opens them up in PS, and does a lot of editing and other stuff with Dell Latitude D820 Battery & Illustrator, etc...

Dell XPS M140 battery
Be prepared to be seriously annoyed.
Dell chargers have a third wire (the central one). This connects DIRECTLY to the data pin of a memory chip in the charger. The memory chip stores an identification code that identifies Dell XPS M140 battery the charger as made by Dell.
The BIOS in your Dell computer checks for the presence of this code. If it doesn't see it, it disables the ability to recharge your battery. You can have a perfectly good charger delivering perfect DC current, but if the laptop doesn't see the secret `made by DELL' code on the data wire, it punishes you for not using a Dell charger by refusing to charge your laptop battery.
To make matters worse, the inside of a charger is not a very hospitable place for a memory chip. They tend not to live long in such hot places. And connecting the data pin of a memory chip Dell XPS M1530 battery directly to an external wire is just lousy design. All you need is a single static spark to hit the data wire and zap - you've fried the memory chip with the Dell secret code. If the memory chip dies, your laptop won't recognise that the charger is made by Dell any more and will refuse to charge your laptop.
If you complain to Dell about this, they won't tell you the true nature of the problem. They'll just try to sell you a new charger.
I have Dell 6400 which had the same thing happen after 2 years. I purchased one off eBay which was supposably an OEM battery, but while it looked similar, it was slightly different in a few ways - which makes me think it was just a regular non OEM battery.
Anyway, it seemed to last about 4hours each charge, which was the same as my OEM battery. Except I only got 1 year out of it before it rapidly lost it's ability to hold Dell XPS M1730 battery charge. It cost me AU$80 which seemed like a good price, but when you only get a year out of it, it makes you wonder if it is worth it..
So I guess to sum up, they are cheap and easy replacements but don't expect any more than 12 months out of them. Sourcing one from Dell will cost more but you should get a longer life and better quality product.
By the way, if your battery is toast, take it out or your laptop will literally try and charge it 24/7!
I gambled with a much cheaper battery off of some site (I don't remember
which offhand) for my m1330. It's worked fine and has actually lasted
longer than the original. I got it for like $50, which was a lot cheaper
than the $90+ Dell wanted for it.
My AC adapter stopped charging like a week after I got the new battery. At first I thought it was the Dell XPS M2010 battery fault, but I think it was just a coincidence, since the new AC adapter has worked like a champ. The 3rd party batteries are a crap shoot, in terms of whether they work well.
If you buy the dell (from dell), you at least know the quality you are getting.
My brother bought one of the third party batteries because they were much cheaper. Then he wound up buying the dell battery a month or two later after the third party one turned out to be junk.

Dell Vostro 1700 battery
I have a Dell Latitude D505. I have recently installed Ubuntu 8.04, and
removed Windows XP. Here is my problem, along with steps I have taken
trying to fix it:
-Before the switch, my DC outlet in the computer was going bad, so I had to wiggle the power plug to make it power the computer/charge the battery.
-I had the DC outlet replaced, so I no longer had to wiggle the power plug.
-Then, after the switch, the AC adapter powered the computer fine, but would not charge the Dell Vostro 1700 battery.
-I sent the computer back to the guy who replaced the DC outlet. He checked that the DC outlet was in properly, and then switched out my hard drive for one with Windows on it to check some other things because he doesn't know how to use Ubuntu.
-He gave me a new AC adapter to try. The battery had charged to 55% when I got it back, so I assumed it was working. But, it will not charge past 55%, and now I've had it unplugged a little, and it's down to 52% and not charging. The LED light on the system that indicates that the battery is charging is not showing, even though in the top right of the desktop, it says the battery is charging (it just won't go past 52%, and the remaining time is unknown).
-When I boot up the system, I get a warning message that the AC Power Adapter type cannot be determined. The computer runs fine off of AC, and fine off of battery, but the Dell XPS M1210 battery just will not charge.
Here's what I've determined. The battery charged while the guy had the Windows hard drive in, getting it up to 55%. It won't charge with my hard drive with Ubuntu. So, it seems like the problem is Ubuntu-related.
When I look at the battery device information, it says that the charge is 52%, the capacity is 67% (poor) (so, I need a new battery soon, but I don't want to get a new one until I can figure out how to charge it).
Yeah, it would make sense if it was either a battery or even a motherboard issue, since I've had problems before in that area. The only thing that made me think it was either hard drive or Ubuntu related was that it charged for the guy yesterday when he had the other hard drive in. I'm fairly certain it's not charging when powered off, though I'll check to be sure. So, if this eliminates Ubuntu as a source, then I'm not sure what the problem is...though I wouldn't be surprised if it is in fact a Dell XPS M1310 battery or motherboard issue, and there is some other reason it charged with a different, sans-Ubuntu, hard drive. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.
It's not Ubuntu, it's most likely the battery or something else hardware related. I had almost the same thing, on my Latitude D520. It would never charge all the way on Ubuntu, but it would say fully charged on Windows XP.
After a few weeks though, I noticed the maximum battery charge displayed on Ubuntu(it's 9.10 by the way) was steadily declining, but at the same time, XP said that it was holding a normal charge. Eventually, the battery could no longer hold a charge at all, so I had to order a new one from Dell.
So it's probably a battery problem, likely because it's old or (the previous owner?) bought one of those cheap Dell-imitation batteries of the net. Just order a new battery FROM DELL(trust me on this, don't buy them anywhere else, they don't seem to have as long of a Dell XPS M1330 battery life, and die quickly), and boot into Ubuntu with it the new battery and AC plug in. After a while, unplug the battery to check its charge or press Fn F3(that will display the basics of the current battery status battery on most Latitudes laptops)

Dell Vostro 1420 battery
In searching for an answer, I discovered this website.
I ordered non-OEM Dell batteries (for cost savings) from two different on-line suppliers and the batteries appear to be non-compatible with my Dell D620. The batteries were put through a complete charge and discharge cycle 3-4 times to ensure proper operation. Also, they were removed and re-installed several time to ensure they were seated properly. They hold a two hour charge when using the laptop to surf the internet (which is said to be normal discharge time). In both purchases the supplier sent a replacement Dell Vostro 1420 battery and when the second battery acted in the same fashion, a refund. So, this has nothing to do with the seller.
My issue is that when the battery is charged overnight or 8-10 hours my laptop's charging illumination light continues to blink GREEN every six seconds and never ceases. IMHO, this indicates the computer continues to trickle a charge to the battery. I have not found anyone to tell me otherwise, Is this a proper assessment on my part? If the light continues to blink, is this a concern for the charger on the motherboard or for the AC adapter. The original Dell Vostro 1500 battery does not have this issue, nor does the battery I borrowed from a friend. If is this is a non-issue, I would like to pass this information on to others and re-order a non-OEM battery.
I agree with the comment about the battery should act in the same fashion as a Dell OEM battery. That is why I returned them for replacement and then refund. They were put through a deep cycle, reboot, and re-install. A friend thinks it has to do with the circuit board in the battery being non-compatible with the Bios of the D620 or something like that. The manufacturers do that because they are making it works just great.
I could have bought three and had a cheap lunch at Burger King and still gotten change.
If I can buy a single Dell Vostro 1510 battery for $50, I figure Sony is buying them by the thousand for probably around $10 each and making $150 on every one of them.
Competition is ALWAYS the consumer's best friend.
My question/issue is - if I decide to go with a non-Dell OEM battery with my computer's charging light's annoying non-stop blinking (every six seconds), will this cause a degradation problem to the AC adapter or charging portion of the mother board. I have looked at new Dell batteries but they are way too expensive and used Dell's are a caveat emptor because most offer no refund or a short warranty window. If this odd charging light display is not an issue, I may take the plunge again and cover the blinking light with a piece of black electrial tape.Okay, I totally agree and feel my experimenting with non-Dell batteries has been interesting and lucky, since I didn't experience a major disaster of frying my laptops' charging circuit. I will fore go the non-Dell battery hunt. There is a Seller on Amazon who is selling a Dell Vostro 1520 battery with a 60 day return warranty for a few more $$ than the non-Dell's. The Seller has almost a 100% rating, so I may take the plunge on it.

Studio XPS 16 battery
I'm currently looking for genuine/official laptop batteries from other
online retailers/ebay. I'll admit it's brutally hard. There are US
retailers that sell it cheaper, but with shipping/handling and most
likely high customs or brokerage charges, the Dell Canada website (or
official manufacturer's online store) might seem like the best choice,
sadly.
First off I would like to say that we here at BattDepot feel bad that Yhap2003 has had a bad purchasing experience with us. We pride ourselves in offering Dell Studio XPS 16 battery quality products at competitive prices while also offering exemplary customer support.
In response to refunding to his Paypal account, we will refund to whichever account payment was made. If we received a check we will refund the customer with a check. So if you made payment with your paypal account, we will refund back to your paypal account. It is also our experience that paypal will refund their fees charged for the transaction if you do a refund.
We definitely take responsibility for any batteries or adapters that are defective. While we do require the customer pay for any return shipping for defective products we will always take care of the shipping costs for the replacements. We do not have many defective products and only bring in a technician once a week. The said return occurred during the time when the technician took a week off on holiday and that is why the RMA procedure took longer than usual. Most of our customers do ask for an exchange since they simply want a good working product Dell Vostro 1000 battery and in those cases we ship the replacement right away if it is within 30 days of the initial purchase. When the customer asks for a refund we will take more precautions and will charge a 15% restocking fee in the event that the battery tests fine.
Yhap2003, in your case the batteries tested fine. I know that you are not happy with the results so we are willing to pay to ship your laptop to our office and back so that we can test the battery here. Of course we will perform this right away and keep the laptop in our possession for one day. If you want the test results of your Dell Vostro 1200 battery , we can e-mail you the test results which show chip information, operating capacity and voltage. Please give us a call and we will be happy to talk with you.
I hope we can regain your confidence in our store, we service many happy customers with our pricing Dell Vostro 1400 battery , product quality, stock availability and shipping times and it would be very unfortunate to have one bad experience affect our standing in the community.

Dell Studio 1535 battery
I ordered 2 batteries for two friends, one battery each; one is for a HP
tx1000 series and the other is for a HP dv6000 series. Both battery
came as DOA. The dv6000 one came with its static bag cut from the
buttom. When I charged both batteries, it does not hold consistent
charge, even when I power cycle it. So after first charge, and when the Dell Studio 1535 battery died, it wouldn't charge again. The battery for the TX model
just wouldn't let the laptop power on when the battery is in the laptop.
As for the dv6000, then I have the battery in the laptop and the AC is
plugged in and when I take out the battery, the laptop would shutdown on
me even when I have the AC plugged in.
So I requested for RMA. The lady on the phone told me that they only refund a max of $10 RMA shipping, so I was like....okay...that's still not bad considering other companies doesn't do that. My friend's wanted a refund so I asked for a refund. I RMAed it, it took them 2 weeks to test the batteries and it would have taken longer than 2 weeks after testing for me to get my refund back if I didn't keep calling in and emailing them. So it technically took 1 month for me to get a "partial" refund.
Original price I paid is $167.98 CAD. Refund I got back is $126.28 CAD. Ofcourse that does not include Dell Studio 1555 battery any shipping yet.
They took out 15% for restocking fee for DOA products. Even though I got an email back saying the technician said the batteries were good. I don't believe that crap, I think they got angry because I keep calling in and emailing them. But they were taking forever to refund my money. Well I can't argue with them about their test because I wouldn't know if they are lying or not. But anyways...so I'll let that go cause I have no choice.
Worst part is...they refunded my money to my paypal account. The thing is that my bank account is not linked with paypal and unfortunately for me, I was also having problem with my bank account and paypal. And also there was no option for me to request a cheque from Paypal (Which they use to have that option). I spend all day trying to get my bank account to link with paypal, so I had to close my bank account and open a new one. And crap, I just ordered a batch of new cheques, then my bank was giving me so much trouble to issue me a new batch with out any charge. And it was raining too I had to bus home at that time.
1. Batterybuyer.ca
They are a Cdn company located in Buckhorn, Ontario (as opposed to some US companies with a .ca address). Shipping was apparently quick (it was apparently delivered within 3 days of my order), but as I would find out, my first battery was lost by Canada Post. They don't send confirmation emails when your order ships, but you can track it on their website. When I contacted them and informed them I never received it, they said they would file an insurance claim with Canada Post and they would send a replacement soon. My replacement Dell Studio 1735 battery arrived 2 weeks later (I assumed they would have waited until they received the insurance money before sending a replacement, hence the long wait time).
The battery itself is made in China. No problems with the battery so far.
2. Intelligentbatteries.ca
A Vancouver based company. Since my OEM battery run times were getting a little short, I decided to purchase another battery (the one I bought from Batterybuyer was to be an extra battery in case I was away from an outlet for an extended period). After I placed my order, they phoned me within 2 hours informing me that they were out of stock and that it the next shipment wouldn't arrive till for at least 3 weeks. I informed them they could ship it when they get it in. I then forgot all about it. More then a month later, I realized that they hadn't shipped it yet. I figured they might have forgotten, but before I got around to following up, they called me informing me that their shipment had just arrived. After confirming I still wanted that Dell Studio XPS 13 battery , they shipped it to me (they do send emails with a tracking # once it ships). It arrived 5 days later.
Not sure where this battery is manufacturered. No problems with it so far.
You should let your friends and whoever know not to buy from them because their products are bad quality, besides, they are reseller and the batteries are not from them, it's from Dr. Battery if I recall right, it was on the box. Save your trouble and grief and pay just a bit extra to get the original batteries from OEM, as you can see that I've lost money and time dealing with BattDepot.

Contact Dell. There is NOTHING anyone can do for you here.
If you "recently purchased a used Dell Inspiron 6000" it is under warranty and it is
responsible for charging the battery.
The battery itself has only a one year warranty.
Welcome to microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support, where issues
surrounding Microsoft Windows XP (in particular - the Help and Support
feature found in Windows XP - although this meaning has long been lost for
this particular newsgroup) are discussed.
What you have is a hardware issue - nothing to do with Microsoft or Windows
XP. It is a question you should ask Dell or give more detail to anyone who
might be willing to help you.
Not all Inspiron's use the same Dell Studio 1436 battery. That's one fact.
Another would be that the message you refer to (about not recognizing the
battery) is likely only a warning that says that battery is either not meant
for this system OR is not an official Dell battery.
The last fact is that - as I said - this issue has nothing to do with
anything other than pure hardware - meaning your best path for support is
not in a group meant for the discussion of Windows XP (software.) ;-)
It could be the laptop cannot charge batteries anymore (that type of
hardware issue - the laptop doesn't send the right signals to allow this to
happen any longer) or it could be the original battery is just dead and the
borrowed ones are of the wrong type.
You might find a place like a "Batteries Plus" - where they specialize in
such things as replacement batteries and see what you can find... Like:
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, and my battery finally got to the point
that it would only hold a charge long enough to more the power plug from
outlet to outlet, 2 minutes. I bout a new one for $50+/- someplace.
But a 100% replacement model# for model#. 9 cell too. Not the 6
cell. It works great.
Also try the reverse, if the other guy will allow you to, take your
Dell Studio 15 battery to his machine and see if it charges. If it does then the battery is good. Look at power packs or the laptop itself then. You
can swap power packs too to try to eliminate the defective part. You
are lucky if he has a 6000, as this makes troubleshooting a breeze.
*But be warned* if its not 1 for 1 then you might blow something. As
others have said, not every battery is the same.
